All Texas Counties Listed - Jurisdiction Texas contains 254 counties. Each of these counties is assigned to one of four Federal Districts (North, South, East and West), and further, each District is divided into Division identified by City of location. Divisions are located in larger cities and maintain jurisdiction over surrounding counties, cites, towns, and rural areas. Jurisdiction refers to geographical area which may assert authority over case resolution (based on residency or property ownership). Bankruptcy venue for all Texas Counties Venue refers to the choose of Districts and Divisions which are authorized to exert jurisdiction over the resolution of a bankruptcy case. Occasionally, in the event of separation, spouses may reside in different counties for over 6 months before filing,. Because the county of residence is used to determine jurisdiction, two counties may both assert jurisdiction for a joint filing of husband and wife yet only one county may properly assert venue. The Secretary of State for the State of Texas provides corporate information via telephone. This information includes the name, address and contact information for the corporate representative, as well as the date of original incorporation and whether the entity remains active. All bankruptcy cases require a list of creditors, and if the address included within the list of creditors is incorrect, and notice of filing is not delivered, subsequent actions taken by the Bankruptcy Court are ineffective against that creditor. Failure to provide notice is one of the damaging and easily preventable errors made by debtors. |
